The Kingswood Partnership
Incorporating 14 - 19 Education at:
Downend School ; The Grange School & Sports College ; Hanham High School; Kingsfield School ; Mangotsfield School ; The Sir Bernard Lovell School and City of Bristol College - Soundwell Centre
Downend School is proud to be a leading member of ‘The Kingswood Partnership’ a well-established consortium made up of the six secondary schools on the south-eastern side of South Gloucestershire and the City of Bristol College (Soundwell Centre).
This means that all Post 16 courses in each of the schools and the full programme of courses at the Soundwell Centre are open to students at Downend. As a result, students have a choice of over sixty courses, including traditional subjects such as Mathematics, French, History and Physics, as well as more work relevant courses such as Engineering, Construction and ICT.
As well as studying together, there are joint social and extra-curricular activities between the different centres in the Partnership. The Partnership provides free transport for all students to attend lessons in other centres. Centres have invested both in new school minibuses and additional staff in order to provide an efficient system enabling students to move between centres so that they can access the courses of their choice.
The Kingswood Partnership is seen as a model nationally for the provision of the of 14-19 education and has been instrumental in pioneering the new diplomas and a highly functional extranet system, linking electronically all the centres in the Partnership.
