How to use Kingswoodonline kingswoodonline Instruction

At Downend School one of our primary aims is to promote the idea of learning in and beyond. To facilitate this, the school has invested heavily in our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) ‘Kingswoodonline’. This system is based on the ‘Studywiz’ platform that is commonly regarded as the easiest VLE to use. This system allows students to access their courses anytime and anywhere.

‘Kingswoodonline’ promotes excellent communication allowing students to communicate via email as well as receiving regular updates of school news via ‘Ebulletins. This is all done in a controlled safe environment.

Digital courses and resources allow students to access information and support as they require it anytime day or night.  They  may be catching up on a lesson missed due to a field trip by checking the teachers notes and accessing the activities.  Alternatively they may wish to check understanding of a topic from a previous lesson or deepen their knowledge through further research.  The ‘Elibrary’ also allows students to research thousands of subjects in a secure environment, where resources have been quality checked unlike the Internet.

Finally ‘Kingswoodonline’ brings learning to life as it uses many multimedia resources to provide a blended approach to learning.  Homework no longer needs to be paper based or simple mirror what was taught in lesson, instead learning can be extended and enriched through a  variety of games, quizzes, videos, music  and test.
