Welcome to Downend Post 16 Centre
Facing the future with confidence
It is a real pleasure to introduce you to Post 16 Education.
Post 16 study should be a most enjoyable and worthwhile experience, not only in academic and vocational achievement but in many other aspects of what it offers. This is certainly the case at Downend which has one of the largest Post GCSE Centres in South Gloucestershire and Bristol. This excellent provision is also supported by our membership of the Kingswood Partnership which further enhances the chioce of courses.
The Kingswood Partnership is known locally as a model of good practice. It also been recognised nationally, having been awarded Pathfinder status by the Department for Education and Skills, one of only 25 such awards in the country, and asked to share its innovative ways of teaching and supporting students with other schools across the country. The recognition has now become international following the launch of the Kingswood Extranet, which has been developed in conjunction with a leading Australian IT company. This will offer you groundbreaking ways of accessing teaching materials, communicating with staff and planning your future career path on-line to complement what goes on at school.
Wherever you look you will see that 'learning pays'. Qulaifications and experiences are increasingly necessary for employment in all walks of life. At Downend Post 16 Centre we have designed as part of the Kingswood Partnership an exciting and broad Post 16 Curriculum to enable you to equip yourself for employment, Higher Education and life.
Downend Post 16 Centre has gone from strength to strength in recent years and we aim to ensure that it continues to flourish and develop.
We hope that you will return and join us in the Sixth Form and help make it an even more successful part of school life.
