Dress Code
We want each student to have pride in Downend School, in being a member of it, and in her/his appearance. Details have been agreed after wide discussion involving teachers, students, parents and governors; we do ask all parents to cooperate by ensuring that their daughter/son is dressed in accordance with this agreed list.
Extremes of hairstyle, hair-dye, fashion and make-up are not allowed. Trainers are not Allowed. Students must not wear more than two piece of simple jewellery (eg plain, small studs or sleeper earrings (other piercings are not allowed), a fine chain , a plain ring), which may Have to be removed for safety in practical lessons. All jewellery and mobile phones, MP3 players and valuables are brought into school at the students’ and parents’ own risk.
Phones and MP3 players must not be used during school day and inappropriate use May result in confiscation. Refusal to hand over is a serious offence.
The school dress code allows for diversity in the context of race and culture. If there are any questions about this please feel free to discuss this with the school.
