Key Stage 4
GSCE Resistant Materials
Gcse Resistant Materials is a two year course. Through out the course students will complete a number of projects that focus on the use of resistant materials – wood, metal and plastics to design and make interesting and innovative products.
Year 10
In year 10 the focus is on developing practical skills, as well as developing knowledge and understanding of the working characteristics of materials and their uses. This is done by a hands on practical, approach through the following projects/ products.
- Wooden Jewellery Box
- Aerodynamic Dragster
- Metal work – body adornment project
- Key fob
- Apprentice test piece
Year 11
The focus of this is GCSE coursework, this a large project that is worth 60% of the final GCSE grade. It is a design and make project, looking at the storage of items.
The final 40% of the grade is examined.
What will be expected of you
You will be required to:
- work hard and produce the best work you are capable of
- complete both written and practical work
- complete homework regularly
- work in a mature and safe manner, including wearing sensible shoes
