Art
Key Stage 3
Students build on their experiences at key stage 2 by working in a range of media. Inspiration comes from the work of artists and designers, the immediate environment and a range of texts including Ted Hughes' poems and the writings of William Blake.Students look at work from the canon and work by less celebrated folk artists and illustrators. Pupils look to the natural world and the man made environment for their inspiration and keep a sketchbook to record ideas and experiences and to produce observational sketches.
Presented herel is a variety of work from year 7, 8 and 9 and some of the exemplar material produced in demonstrations by staff.
Key Stage 4
Students opting for Art at KS4 have a choice of studying GCSE Art or following the creative and media diploma. Students produce ambitious projects which draw on a wealth of inspiration from Surrealist landscapes and the febrile jungle scenes of Rousseau to characters encountered by Alice in Wonderland and the dolls and mannequins painted by de Chirico and animated by the stop motion film-makers “ The Brothers Quay”.
Collected here are some recent pieces by students and once again exemplar material produced by staff.
